Our Goal in This War

Picture
When the U.S. joined the Vietnam war overseas, our goal was to keep them from becoming a Communist country. Eisenhower had the "Domino Theory," which stated that once one country fell to Communism, all of the countries surrounding that country would also become Communist. This was the very beginning, in the containment phase. This containment was applied first to control the USSR, but they also saw Vietnam as very important. This is what began our involvement in Vietnam, and it only escalated more after this.
