The experience in the Vietnam War helped to make societies whose people question the actions of their government, and don't always go along with what the government wants. People have realized that their opinions and views can change the way governments around the world operate. After the war, many Americans wanted to forget about the terrible outcome in Vietnam and the many lives lost. Americans also learned that when you go to war you should have good background info about the people you are fighting. However, in the early 1980s, Americans had a renewed interest in the war, especially because of the lessons they could learn from it. Even though the United States lost the war it has served as a learning tool to avoid future situations like it.
